As part of the activities of a group of Sudanese journalists visiting the UK at the invitation of the Royal United Services Institute for defense and Security Studies (RUSI), the delegation received a kind invitation from a group of Sudanese civil society figures from young people of both sexes in Britain.
The meeting witnessed a fruitful discussion that addressed a number of national issues related to the tracks of the Sudanese crisis and developments in the field and political situations.
The participants stressed the importance of supporting national efforts aimed at strengthening popular solidarity to preserve the unity of the country, consolidate stability and protect Sudanese state institutions. They also stressed the need to expand cooperation between the various sectors of society at home and abroad to confront the humanitarian crisis suffered by the Sudanese people as a result of the aggression against its institutions and society, and to address with all force the crimes and violations, especially the attacks targeting the shelter centers of the displaced and the civilian population in the steadfast city of El Fasher.
For his part, the participating Sudanese delegation provided highlights on the meetings held over the past days, stressing the importance of building on these meetings to establish fruitful cooperation that serves Sudan.
He also stressed the need to strengthen the partnership between the community and the Sudanese media, in order to ensure the transmission of an accurate picture of the aspirations of the Sudanese people and their suffering.
The participants pointed out that the Sudanese community in Britain represents an important asset of competencies and experience, and that uniting their efforts and coordinating their initiatives can make a tangible impact in supporting Sudan at this critical stage. Some of them also recalled the historical role of the community in defending democracy and human rights issues, and its academic and media contributions over the decades.
The attendees considered that the meeting represents a new page in organizing the community’s work in an institutional way, and establishes a stage of joint coordination between the various Sudanese components in Britain, in a way that enhances its ability to positively influence international policies towards Sudan.
