U.S. President’s Africa Advisor, Masud Paulos, condemned the attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces on the city’s last remaining hospital in El Fasher.
In a tweet on his official X account, Paulos said: “I condemn the attack reportedly carried out by the Rapid Support Forces on the last remaining hospital in besieged El Fasher and a nearby mosque in North Darfur, which killed and injured civilians, including doctors and nurses, in an area where humanitarian access is still restricted.”
Paulos added that “there is no justification for targeting places of worship, hospitals, or civilians.”
The statement also referenced an attack on a mosque in El Fasher, which killed over 75 people and injured dozens earlier this month, as well as an attack on an educational complex and a Saturday attack that claimed the lives of patients and children.
Paulos expressed regret over the prolonged conflict, which continues to claim innocent lives daily through attacks and famine, and stressed that the warring parties must recognize that there is no military solution and work to end the conflict.
