The Sudanese army and its allies in the Joint Forces of Armed Movements repelled a coordinated RSF assault on the city of El Fasher on Friday, launched from three directions.
A commander in the Joint Forces said the RSF attacked from the north, northeast, and northwest early Friday morning, but suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment.
The source told Sudan Tribune that, after the attack failed, the militia began intensive artillery shelling targeting residential neighborhoods and displacement centers in El Fasher.
