Air Defenses Repel Drone Attacks on Khartoum Airport

Drones belonging to the Rapid Support Forces attacked Khartoum International Airport and its vicinity early Tuesday, hours after the Civil Aviation Authority announced the airport’s reopening on Wednesday.

Security sources told Sudan Tribune that army air defenses intercepted the drones after 4 a.m. Witnesses in nearby neighborhoods reported hearing drone flights toward the airport before seeing and hearing explosions.

Eyewitnesses counted five drones, stating that army air defenses engaged all of them. Smoke was observed rising from inside the airport following the strikes.
