Minnawi Accuses South Sudanese Mercenaries of Leading Militia Attack on El Fasher

The head of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Arko Minnawi, on Thursday accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of recruiting mercenaries from South Sudan to join their offensive on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Minnawi wrote: “The RSF has depleted its fighters and now relies on mercenaries. Those fighting in El Fasher today are South Sudanese, and the losses are enormous.”

He warned that the fall of El Fasher—the last stronghold of the central government in North Darfur—could have serious repercussions for the stability of South Sudan.
