Geneva Meeting Highlights Worsening Humanitarian Situation in El Fasher

Sudan’s Permanent Representative to Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamed Hassan, received on Saturday Denis Brown, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sudan, at his office. The meeting focused on the alarming deterioration of humanitarian conditions in El Fasher amid ongoing attacks, sieges, artillery shelling, and drone strikes.

Ambassador Hassan strongly condemned the international community’s silence and inability to act against ongoing war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by terrorist militias targeting unarmed civilians. He highlighted the use of starvation and the blockage of food and medicine as deliberate tactics aimed at killing or forcibly displacing residents.

He further noted that the rebel militias are now employing similar siege tactics against civilians in Dalang and Kadugli in South Kordofan state.

Denis Brown, for her part, expressed appreciation for the Sudanese government’s efforts to expedite humanitarian aid, citing productive meetings with senior officials on the matter.
