Democratic Bloc Declines Swiss Workshop Invitation, Rejects Sitting with ‘Sumoud’ Alliance

The Democratic Bloc announced it would not participate in a political workshop organized by the French organization Promediation in Nyon, Switzerland, scheduled for October 29–31, which was to include the Sumoud alliance.

In a statement, the bloc said its presidential council discussed the invitation during an October 8 meeting in Port Sudan but failed to reach a consensus on participation.
It reiterated its refusal to sit with Sumoud, describing it as a political ally of the RSF militia under an agreement signed in Addis Ababa on January 2, 2024—unless within a final Sudanese dialogue framework with broad participation and proper confidence-building measures in place.

The bloc thanked Promediation for the invitation but affirmed its commitment to an inclusive Sudanese–Sudanese dialogue, excluding those implicated in war crimes, crimes against humanity, or genocide.

It urged all national forces to focus efforts on countering the RSF and its allies and addressing the ongoing violations against civilians—especially in El Fasher.
The statement concluded by honoring the martyrs, wounded, missing, and detained, affirming the inevitability of victory for the will of the Sudanese people.
