Hundreds of Sudanese, Arab, and French activists gathered on Saturday evening in Paris’s Bastille Square to protest what they described as genocide committed by the RSF militia in Darfur and to express outrage at what they called the “silence and complicity” of the international community, particularly France.
The protest followed similar demonstrations across Europe — including in Berlin — where hundreds joined solidarity rallies calling for the referral of atrocities in Darfur to the International Criminal Court and for an end to all external support for the warring parties.
As international organizations continue to document violations in Sudan, voices from around the world are demanding stronger action from the global community and transparent investigations into the flow of weapons into conflict zones through regional and international actors.
Human rights advocates are also calling for sanctions against those involved in abuses and an end to any political or logistical support that could prolong the war or fuel ethnic violence, stressing that global silence over Darfur amounts to complicity in the crimes and the ongoing suffering of civilians.
