Sudan: Abu Dhabi’s Unrestricted Support Enables Militia Atrocities

Sudan’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamid Hassan, on Saturday briefed Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Nada Al-Nashif and senior officials from the Africa and Sudan sections of the UN Human Rights Office.

He outlined the atrocities committed by the RSF militia since October 26 in El Fasher and its surrounding areas.

The ambassador said that the international community’s failure to take decisive action against the militia since its rebellion began — along with its silence toward the United Arab Emirates, which sponsors and provides it with unlimited military support, weapons, and mercenaries — has given the RSF the green light to commit these horrific crimes.

He detailed instances of ethnically motivated executions of civilians, including mass killings of patients, caretakers, and medical staff at El Fasher’s Saudi Maternity Hospital.

The envoy also described similar atrocities committed by the militia in the city of Bara, emphasizing that such actions reflect a systematic pattern replicated in all areas seized by the RSF, including El Geneina, Khartoum, and Al Jazira.
