Army Repels Fiercest Attack on 22nd Infantry Division in Babanusa

The Sudanese army on Sunday repelled the fiercest attack launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on the town of Babanusa in West Kordofan State.

Over the past days, the army had successfully fended off several RSF attacks on Babanusa involving artillery shelling, drones, and combat vehicles.

Military sources told Ultra Sudan that the RSF launched a dawn assault on Sunday that was considered the most intense against the 22nd Infantry Division in Babanusa.
The sources added that the RSF preceded the assault with heavy artillery bombardment before advancing with armored and combat vehicles.

According to the sources, the attack continued from early Sunday morning until after noon in successive waves. The army reportedly destroyed a significant number of RSF combat vehicles with their full weaponry, while dozens of attackers were killed or wounded.

The sources noted that strategic air power played a decisive role in the battle, delivering precise strikes on the armored vehicles that the RSF heavily relied upon in Sunday’s attack.
