The investigative platform Eekad has detected movement and expansion within the base of the “Subul Al-Salam Battalion,” a militia aligned with Khalifa Haftar and supportive of the RSF.
The battalion is located about 10 km east of Kufra Airport in southern Libya.
Previous reports have revealed military support flowing to the RSF from Libya. Other reports confirmed that Sudanese warplanes had carried out heavy airstrikes targeting military supplies coming from Libya.
According to Eekad, the base has undergone significant changes since the initial leak, including the establishment of new sites, the opening of internal roads, and the identification of a vehicle repair facility.
These developments reportedly coincide with the arrival of Colombian mercenaries. One of the mercenaries posted photos on Google Maps in August 2025 confirming his affiliation with the battalion.
Satellite images from Sentinel Hub taken between April and August 2025 show new areas and hangars inside the base, indicating expansion and development aligned with the RSF’s military advances inside Sudan.
