U.S. Official: Delivery of 65,000 Tons of Wheat to Address the Crisis in Sudan

A U.S. State Department official said that the United States continues to adapt its humanitarian response to the evolving humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
The U.S. official told Sudan Tribune that more than 65,000 metric tons of bulk wheat and wheat flour have been delivered to Port Sudan—an amount sufficient to meet the food assistance needs of up to 3.2 million people for an entire month.
He explained that the U.S. administration has provided emergency assistance to more than four million refugees in seven neighboring countries.
At the same time, he called for cooperation with international partners to press for unhindered humanitarian access and the protection of civilians.
