The European Union has strongly condemned the attack on the city of Kalogi in South Kordofan state, carried out by the Rapid Support Forces militia, which left dozens of victims, most of them children.
Crisis Management Commissioner for the EU, Haja Lahbib, described the events in Kalogi as “a clear war crime,” stressing that targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure is strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law.
Lahbib added that “the excessive violence against the population requires urgent accountability,” calling on all parties to the conflict to respect their legal obligations and protect civilians.
The Executive Director of Kalogi locality told Al Jazeera that the death toll from the bombardment carried out by the Rapid Support Forces has risen to 80, including 46 children.
