Militia Elements Commit Killings and Looting in Kordofan

Two civilians were killed and three others injured on Saturday by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) east of the city of Wad Bandah in West Kordofan State.

Witnesses told Darfur24 that an RSF unit traveling in a Land Cruiser armed with a DShK heavy machine gun and light weapons intercepted a civilian transport vehicle near the village of “Bit Al-Sheikh,” about 20 kilometers east of Wad Bandah. The assailants killed two people, wounded three others who were on board, looted the goods, and fled to an unknown destination.

The civilians were traveling from the Foga area in the north, carrying goods and basic supplies en route to Abu Zabad in the south.

In a related incident, other traders were robbed last week of cash and mobile phones by an RSF force while heading to the market of Al-Ma‘araka village south of Wad Bandah.

West Kordofan State has been witnessing severe security breakdowns, leading to repeated incidents of killing and looting by the RSF militia, amid the absence of decisive action despite repeated reports by residents to security posts in villages and towns.
