Sudanese refugees in Chad reported on Thursday that armed attacks occurred inside refugee camps, carried out by local residents amid deteriorating living conditions.
Activist Adel Atar told Darfur24 that armed assaults, looting, and attacks on businesses and satellite internet outlets took place in Edri and Abotenqi camps.
Atar added that refugee camps in Chad face a drinking water crisis and a halt in food aid distribution. Humanitarian organizations have resorted to providing cash assistance instead of food, giving each individual 1,500 Chadian francs, equivalent to 75,000 Sudanese pounds per month.
