Several Sudanese refugees in the Adré camp in eastern Chad were kidnapped by unidentified assailants and later released after being beaten.
One victim told Darfour24 that they were lured by a man driving an SUV who promised them employment opportunities. The man took them to northeast Adré, then across the Sudanese border, before forcing them out of the vehicle, claiming he would return later.
They were confronted by individuals on motorcycles from the same direction and beaten, but an elder from the attackers’ families intervened and secured their release.
