Sudan Doctors Network: Militias Detain 73 Women and 29 Girls in Al-Mijlad

The Sudan Doctors Network reported on Thursday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) detained 73 women and 29 girls in the city of Al-Mijlad after forcibly relocating them from Babnusa in West Kordofan, alleging that their relatives were affiliated with the army.

The network stated that the detainees were held under dire humanitarian conditions lacking basic medical, nutritional, and psychological care.

“This detention constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and all conventions prohibiting targeting civilians or using them as leverage during armed conflicts,” the statement read.

The network warned that the detainees face serious health risks, especially amid the absence of medical services and the spread of epidemics, holding the RSF fully responsible for their safety.

It called for their immediate and unconditional release, safe return to their families, and urgent access for humanitarian and medical organizations to provide necessary care. The network also urged the United Nations and other international and regional organizations to act, pressure the RSF to halt these violations, and ensure the protection of civilians, particularly women and children.
