Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Thursday with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, during which they discussed the latest regional developments and a number of issues of mutual concern.
The call addressed the evolving situation in Sudan, with Abdelatty stressing the importance of working toward a humanitarian truce as a prelude to a comprehensive ceasefire. He underscored the need to preserve Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and to support its national institutions.
He also emphasized the importance of providing safe havens for civilians and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Sudanese people. Abdelatty condemned the grave violations committed against civilians in El Fasher and North Kordofan, calling for the necessary protection to be provided to them.
