
Thirteen people were killed and 52 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a traffic accident that occurred on Thursday on the Kosti–Khartoum highway, near the Qoz Al-Nil cafés. The collision involved a passenger bus traveling from Kosti to Khartoum and another bus coming from the opposite direction carrying passengers from a neighboring country.
According to a press statement issued by the Police Press Office, traffic police from the Abu Hubeira sector responded immediately to the incident, evacuating the injured to Al-Duweim Hospital. Necessary legal procedures were taken regarding the deceased under the supervision of the Public Prosecution, and criminal cases were opened under Articles (66/62/57 A, B, C).
The Governor of White Nile State, the State Minister of Health, the Director of White Nile State Police, the Director of White Nile Traffic Police, and the Director of the Highway Patrol Department of White Nile Police visited the accident site. They also reviewed the medical condition of the injured at Al-Duweim Hospital, oversaw the provision of necessary health and medical services, and followed up on the completion of procedures for the deceased, including the handover of the bodies to their country of origin through the Foreigners’ Monitoring Department.
