An aircraft operated by Oman’s SalamAir landed at Port Sudan Airport on Tuesday, becoming the first Gulf airline to resume flights to Sudan after months of suspension.
The Sudan Airports Company said in a press statement that SalamAir inaugurated its service on Tuesday with flights arriving from Muscat to Port Sudan, operating three flights per week.
The company added that the resumption of these flights is part of efforts to facilitate mobility and support bilateral relations, with SalamAir joining the roster of airlines currently operating at Sudanese airports.
Several foreign airlines are currently operating regular flights to Port Sudan, including EgyptAir, Ethiopian Airlines, and Turkish Airlines, in addition to Sudanese carriers.
