
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty discussed recent developments in Sudan with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
According to the ministry’s statement, Abdel Aaty outlined the steps Egypt is taking within the framework of the Quartet mechanism and explained the nature of ongoing contacts aimed at supporting de-escalation efforts.
He stressed the urgent need to reach a humanitarian truce that could pave the way for a comprehensive ceasefire, underscoring the importance of launching an inclusive political process led by Sudanese actors.
Abdel Aaty reiterated Egypt’s position calling for respect for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the preservation of its national institutions as the foundation for any future settlement.
