Sudan–Qatar Talks on Advancing Sustainable Development Priorities

Minister of Finance Jibril Ibrahim held talks with Fahad bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development, on ways to enhance cooperation to advance sustainable development priorities. The discussions took place during the finance minister’s official visit to Qatar and covered several issues of mutual interest.
Earlier during the visit, the finance minister also met with the Governor of the Qatar Central Bank, with the participation of the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Amina Mirghani Hassan Al-Toum.
The meeting discussed ways to support and strengthen the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in the financial and banking sectors, bolster existing partnerships, and enhance promising opportunities for economic cooperation. The importance of the banking sector in sustaining these opportunities was underscored.
Both sides emphasized the importance of building on the longstanding fraternal relations between the Republic of Sudan and the State of Qatar and expanding cooperation to include banking sector reform, digital transformation, cybersecurity, anti–money laundering efforts, and the modernization of agreements between the two central banks.
They also agreed to exchange expertise and develop mechanisms for joint coordination between relevant departments in both central banks to overcome obstacles to financial transfers, thereby contributing to increased trade exchange and investment between the two countries.
