Sudanese Embassy in Cairo Urges Citizens to Carry Valid Documents

The Sudanese Embassy in Cairo on Sunday issued a notice urging all Sudanese citizens residing in Egypt to ensure they carry valid identification documents at all times, in addition to holding residency cards issued by the competent Egyptian authorities.

In its statement, the embassy stressed the importance for asylum seekers registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to ensure their UNHCR cards remain valid, and to coordinate with the relevant Egyptian authorities through the UNHCR to obtain or renew official residency permits.

The embassy emphasized that the notice comes as part of efforts to ensure the safety of Sudanese citizens and regulate their legal residency status in Egypt, enabling them to benefit from available facilities and avoid any legal complications.

At the same time, the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo expressed its deep appreciation and gratitude to Egypt — its leadership and people — for the facilities and continued support provided to the Sudanese presence on its territory amid the exceptional circumstances facing Sudan.

The embassy also noted that it welcomes inquiries through its official social media pages or via the Consular and Community Affairs Section at its headquarters in New Cairo’s Fifth Settlement, affirming its continued work to expedite passport issuance and all civil documentation for citizens in need.

The statement concluded by calling on citizens to maintain their usual cooperation with the embassy in a way that facilitates consular services and protects the rights of the Sudanese community in Egypt.
