Partnership Between Ministry of Agriculture, DAL Group and Agricultural Research Corporation to Produce Cotton Seeds

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation has signed a strategic partnership agreement with DAL Group and the Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC) to produce and localize cotton seeds domestically.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the ministry by Dr. Mona Osman, Director General of the Seed Administration, alongside Professor Ahmed Hassan Abu Assar, Director General of the Agricultural Research Corporation. The partnership aims to secure the country’s needs for high-quality cotton seeds, reduce reliance on imports, and enhance the competitiveness of Sudanese cotton in global markets.

Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Dr. Essam Qurashi, said the partnership represents a successful model of integration between the public and private sectors, as well as the scientific research community. “This collaboration will directly contribute to increasing cotton productivity and improving quality, which will positively impact farmers’ incomes and the national economy,” he stated.

For his part, Engineer Ahmed Abdalla, representing DAL Group, affirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector. He noted that the initiative aligns with the company’s corporate social responsibility and its vision to develop agricultural value chains in Sudan.

Meanwhile, Professor Ahmed Hassan Abu Assar emphasized the critical role of research in producing pure foundation seeds that ensure sustainable production and resistance to pests and diseases, confirming the corporation’s readiness to provide full technical and scientific support to the project.
