Al-Burhan: “We Know No National Congress, Muslim Brotherhood, or Communists — We Know Only the Sudanese People”

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has expressed confidence in the Sudanese people in confronting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebels, whom he accused of seeking to place the country “in their pocket.”

Addressing citizens in Jazirat Maqrat, Al-Burhan said: “We are confident and fully rely on the citizens. As for those who speak from abroad and create noise, frankly we just laugh at them. We are not afraid of anyone. We tell them: whoever wants to fabricate stories may do so, and whoever wants to bark may bark — we will not pay them any attention, and we will keep moving forward.”

Al-Burhan said he is focused on a single project: cleansing the country of rebels and anyone attempting to seize or hijack the state. “We tell them this state cannot be hijacked by anyone. If any party or group imagines it can do that, we say to them: that is a lie,” he added.

He continued: “We do not recognize the National Congress, the Muslim Brotherhood, or the Communists. The only thing we recognize is the Sudanese people.”
Al-Burhan added that whenever he visits an area and finds people welcoming him, it places a responsibility on him, noting that the reception is not for him personally but for the armed forces.

He also said attacks by the rebel militia on Bara, Tina, and Dilling “do not affect us in the slightest,” stressing that their forces remain steadfast and determined to fight the rebellion until it is eliminated.

Al-Burhan further confirmed that there is no truce or ceasefire, stating: “For us, reconciliation means that you lay down your weapons and go sit in your home.”
