Sudan’s Higher Committee for the Voluntary Repatriation of Sudanese Refugees from Uganda announced on Friday that the tenth repatriation flight to Sudan would depart on Saturday as part of an ongoing program to facilitate the return of Sudanese refugees wishing to return home.
In a statement, the committee said that all travel arrangements had been completed, including the distribution of tickets and travel documents. A total of 106 returnees are expected on the flight, in the presence of the Sudanese consul, members of the diplomatic mission in Kampala, committee representatives, and the returning families.
The committee added that the flight is part of the voluntary repatriation program being implemented in coordination with the Sudanese embassy in Uganda and supporting organizations, as part of efforts to ensure the safe and orderly return of Sudanese nationals.
It also confirmed that additional flights would continue to be organized until all Sudanese refugees wishing to return have been accommodated, expressing gratitude to all parties that contributed to the success of the initiative.
