The commissioner of Kurmuk in Sudan’s Blue Nile Region said on Sunday that mass graves had been discovered containing civilians, including children and women, who were allegedly executed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Kurmuk Commissioner Abdel-Ati Mohamed Al-Faki said in a press statement that “mass graves containing 25 civilians were discovered, including women, children, elderly people, and workers at Kurmuk Hospital, who were executed by the RSF.”
He explained that the mass graves were discovered during army search operations in the northeastern direction of Kurmuk, more than a month after the city was recaptured.
Al-Faki said the incident took place near Mount Fankat, which the RSF had used as a launch site for suicide drones during its attack on Kurmuk.
RSF fighters committed numerous violations during their control of Kurmuk and other areas of Blue Nile, including killings, looting, and forced displacement.
