Jaafar al-Mirghani Calls for Speedier Sudanese Dialogue and Warns Against Exclusion

Jaafar al-Sadiq Mohamed Osman al-Mirghani, head of the Freedom and Change Alliance – Democratic Bloc and deputy leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (Original), affirmed the bloc’s support for Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue and its establishment within the country. He stressed that dialogue is a shared national responsibility involving political forces and the Committee for Preparing the Dialogue.

Meanwhile, the committee expected the pace of dialogue preparations to accelerate in the coming period, following a meeting with the bloc’s leadership that it described as fruitful.

Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Committee for Preparing Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue, headed by Othman Mirghani Abdullah, at the garden of Sayyid Ali al-Mirghani’s residence in Khartoum, al-Mirghani said the meeting addressed several issues related to the dialogue and preparations for creating a suitable environment for its launch. The discussions also covered the observations raised by the bloc at the previous meeting and ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two sides.

He added that dialogue was becoming increasingly important given the difficult circumstances facing the country, noting that the Sudanese people were eagerly awaiting the arrival of this stage. He affirmed that the Democratic Bloc was now more supportive of dialogue than ever.

Al-Mirghani stressed that “there can be no dialogue in the absence of political forces, nor can there be dialogue without the Committee for Preparing the Dialogue.” He said that pooling efforts was a shared national responsibility that would pave the way for moving to the dialogue phase itself.

He emphasized that the dialogue must be purely national, conducted within Sudan and in the interests of the country and its citizens.
