Al-Burhan’s Adviser: Ethiopia Is Seeking to Provoke Sudan and Drag It into Direct Confrontation

Amjad Farid, an adviser to the Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, said on Monday that Ethiopia was seeking to draw Sudan into direct confrontation. He noted that Khartoum had lodged an official complaint with the United Nations Security Council against Addis Ababa over drone attacks targeting Sudanese territory.

In remarks to Al Arabiya/Al Hadath, Adviser Amjad Farid confirmed that Sudan had established that the drones had been launched from Ethiopian territory, noting that the complaint included details and evidence relating to the attacks.

He added that more than 70 attacks had been launched from Ethiopia towards Sudan since last February, some of which had resulted in the deaths of 484 civilians.

The Sudanese official accused Ethiopia of attempting to provoke Sudan and push it towards direct confrontation, stressing that Khartoum had presented details of the attacks in its complaint submitted to the Security Council.
