Exit of Companies from the Labor Market
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
The director of the Red Sea Shipping Company, Hatem Abdel Raheem, revealed that maritime companies suffered heavy losses as a result of the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Militia, revealing a noticeable decline in export imports, as the volume of exports and imports for the year 2022-2023 was about 450,000 20-foot equivalent containers. Now it has decreased to only 25% of before.
He pointed out the loss of the Red Sea Navigation Company’s shipping lines. While it had more than 20 shipping lines, it now has one shipping line (the Indian Line), and transit operates through the pivotal port of Jeddah.
He also revealed the exit of some companies from the labor market due to some policies, an example of this being the Grain Company. However, he referred to the policy of the current Minister of Commerce to restore the company to its normal state and it began working in its correct production line.
