President of the Algerian Federation: We did not agree with any coach

Sudan Events – Agencies

Walid Sadi, President of the Algerian Football Federation, said that an agreement has not yet been reached with a specific coach to take over the training of the first team, following the departure of Djamel Belmadi, after the exit from the African Cup of Nations in its last edition, which was hosted by Ivory Coast.
Algeria dismissed coach Belmadi at the end of last January, after the team bid farewell to the group stage of the Cup of Nations following two draws with Angola and Burkina Faso and a loss to Mauritania, putting them at the bottom of Group Four.
“We have not yet reached any agreement with any coach, and the rumors about signing an agreement with a specific coach are baseless.” Sadi said in statements to Algerian television.
“The announcement of the identity of the new coach will be within the next week.” He added.
Local media circulated news of an agreement with Swiss coach Vladimir Petkovic to succeed Belmadi as coach of Algeria.
