(NBA): Steve Kerr will receive the highest salary in history

Steve Kerr will become the highest paid coach in the history of the NBA, after the Golden State Warriors renewed his contract, according to reports.
ESPN reported that Kerr, who led the Warriors to the NBA title four times, agreed to extend his contract for two years, in exchange for $35 million.
Citing the coach’s agents, Rick Smith and Dan Avilov, ESPN said that Kerr will become the highest-paid coach in the history of the league.
The network added that San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich receives a higher salary, but he also holds the position of president. Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra also extended his contract for 8 years for 15 million annually.
Kerr’s contract was to expire at the end of this season, while according to his new contract, he will remain until the 2025-2026 season, with an annual salary of $17.5 million.
Kerr (58 years old) came to Golden State in May 2014, and reached the league final 5 times in a row between 2015 and 2019, and won in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022.
The expiration of his contract coincides with the expiration of the contract of veteran distributor Stephen Curry after two years.
Kerr also won the title 5 times as a player, 3 with the Chicago Bulls alongside the legend Michael Jordan, and two with the Spurs.
Coach Kerr achieved his 500th victory in the league last Thursday, and he will also supervise the American team in the Paris Olympics next summer.
