Executive Director of Shindi Locality, Khaled Abdul Ghaffar Al-Sheikh, directed the competent authorities in the locality to organize visits for displaced and school students to the archaeological sites in Al-Bajrawiyah, Al-Naqa’a, Al-Musawwarat and other areas.
The Executive Director said that such visits, especially for the people of Khartoum who came to Shendi after the outbreak of war, are an opportunity to introduce these archaeological sites and learn about life in the ancient Meroitic Kingdom, especially in its social rituals and economic conditions.
He emphasized linking the current generation of students and youth with this cultural heritage that confirms the greatness of the Sudanese human being, who has been confronted by conspiracies throughout the ages.
He pointed out that many international studies and archaeologists in Europe have affirmed that the Sudanese civilization is the oldest civilization in the world.
He added that the continuous visits of European tourists to archaeological areas in Sudan confirm the importance of this Sudanese civilization, especially since many European countries have archaeological missions in the River Nile , the North and Khartoum states.
