The public clash between Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique and Kylian Mbappe, the team’s star, is attracting great attention from the French media.
The newspaper “L’Equipe” and the “Radio Monte Carlo” network reported that Enrique held an important meeting with Mbappe after the goalless draw with Monaco, on Friday, in the league.
“This meeting aimed to calm the atmosphere after the controversial decision to replace Kylian Mbappe between halftime of the Monaco match.” L’Equipe added.
This decision sparked a widespread uproar and many criticisms in the French media, especially after Mbappe climbed into the stands.
RMC Sport indicated that Enrique has already begun preparing for next season, and Mbappe is no longer among his plans, after the player informed the club management of his desire to leave.
“The current perception is that Mbappe will not play significantly in French League matches until the end of the season.” L’Equipe confirmed.
The newspaper concluded its report by saying that this plan will not be applied to Mbappe in PSG’s Champions League matches.
Saint-Germain is preparing to face Real Sociedad next Tuesday in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, noting that it won the first leg with two goals at its home stadium, Parc des Princes.
