Lyon qualifies for the French Cup final for the first time in 12 years

Lyon FC qualified for the final of the French Cup for the first time since 2012 by defeating its guest Valenciennes 3-0 in the match that brought them together yesterday evening, Tuesday, in the semi-finals of the tournament at Groupama Stadium.
Lyon’s hat-trick was scored by Alexandre Lacazette, with two goals from a penalty kick in the 51st and 57th minutes, and Gift Orban completed the hat-trick in the 75th minute.
Lyon, which occupies tenth place in the French League table, has lost only once in the last five matches, and succeeded in booking its place in the French Cup final for the first time since 2012 when it won its last title in the tournament, while the adventure of Valenciennes, the competitor in the second division, has ended. The Frenchman, after an impressive performance in the French Cup this season, despite being close to relegation to the third division this season.
The other semi-final match is scheduled to be held today between Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes at the Parc des Princes Stadium, and the final will be held next May 25.
