In a photo shoot conducted by National Geographic, Angelina Jolie did not shower for 3 days because bees are sensitive to very strong smells.
Thousands of bees were flying around the actor while taking the photo.
The session was held on the occasion of World Bee Day, where Angelina Jolie stood with the bees for 18 minutes.
The Hollywood star gained the title of “Godmother” for the “Women for Bees” program, which was launched by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to train and support female beekeeping pioneers around the world.
“You have to be really still and motionless in that moment, and that’s not easy for me,” she explained.
She added, “I think part of the idea behind this is to explain how to deal with bees, which are seen as dangerous creatures sometimes.”
The goal was to emphasize that we share the planet Earth with its various creatures, including bees, and we are influenced by each other, and this is how we should feel.
In fact, I felt very proud and very lucky to have had that experience.”
On May 20, the world celebrates World Bee Day, whose declining numbers pose a threat to global food security and nutrition.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), about 90% of the world’s wild flowering plants depend on pollination by bees, in addition to 75% of the world’s food crops.
