Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Livestock, Dr. Hassan Al-Toum stressed that exports continue regularly despite the country’s circumstances. This is due to the tight coordination, procedures and measures taken by the Ministry through field visits to production areas and the provision of financial and technical support.
He pointed out that the livestock sector provides the public treasury with local revenues, and the export revenue contributes to the stability of foreign exchange.
The period from January to September witnessed the shipment of 211 ships weighing 78,925 thousand tons, approximately 3 million heads of sheep, with total export revenue of 427 million dollars, including shipments through land crossings.
The Ministry is trying to meet the needs of the regional market, and they have received many requests from countries coordinating to implement this.
For his part, the Undersecretary indicated that the Tara Company slaughterhouse in the Nile River State will enter the production department soon after meeting all requirements and being approved by the Food and Drug Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Other slaughterhouses in the states of Gezira and White Nile are being arranged in accordance with the partnership law between the two sectors.
