The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources, Minister-designate Engineer Dhaw al-Bayt Abdul Rahman Mansour, confirmed this when he met with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bashri, in his office in the Merowe Reservoir (Monday), expressed his ministry’s readiness to provide the required assistance in terms of technical and engineering aspects and everything related to irrigation operations in agricultural projects in the northern state, pointing to the importance of the presence of the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources in the northern state, and the meeting discussed the possibility of expanding the agricultural area in the projects of the northern state with various agricultural crops due to their importance in increasing agricultural production.
The Irrigation Undersecretary confirmed that the ministry’s employees made every effort available in the various irrigation sites, especially in the northern state.
For his part, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry stressed the role of the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources in supporting agricultural work in Sudan.
The two sides agreed to develop a work plan to visit irrigated projects in the northern state to determine their actual needs and how agricultural expansion works through irrigated projects. The two ministers are expected to make field visits during the next few days to determine the possibility of expanding the agricultural area with these projects and to help overcome all the challenges they face.
