Chasing Farmers and Escaping of Others

Deputy Head of the Sudan Farmers’ Association – Rain-fed Sector – Ghareeq Kambal has revealed that a number of farmers fled their areas after being chased by the Agricultural Bank to pay their debts, while some farmers began to pay. The authorities arrested others who are currently in prison.
Ghareeq stressed that asking the Agricultural Bank to pay the debts is one of its rights, in addition to that paying the debts enables the bank to provide new financing.
The Acting Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Bank, Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Bushra, directed the Agricultural Bank’s management to form a committee to study the conditions of farmers in the seam areas in the River Nile State affected by the war, to schedule debts and evaluate the situation for refinancing.
