The artist Hisham Kamal presented among the songs chosen in the eulogy of the dean of Sudanese journalism, journalist Mahjoub Muhammad Saleh, “The Cry of My Dolls,” written by the poet Mohieddin Saber, which was composed by Ismail Abdel Moin in the year 1938, becoming one of the famous graduates’ conference songs of that era.
“This anthem was supposed to be sung by the artist Sharhabeel Ahmed, and due to the death of his daughter Noha on the day of the show, Sharhabeel apologized.” Hisham Kamal said. “An hour before the celebration, I found Dr. Kamal Youssef looking at me in an uncomfortable way, and suddenly he addressed me, saying, ‘I hear you will sing the conference anthem, and I heard it from Sharhabeel in only two rehearsals, and thank God he found approval.” He added.
It is noteworthy that in the memorial of the late Sudanese journalist, Mahjoub Muhammad Saleh, in the Ewart Hall at the American University in Cairo, a number of songs were chosen by the organizing committee, and Dr. Kamal Youssef put in a simple treatment that does not disturb the melodic basis of the songs.
