Efforts to develop cinema in Sudan

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The Sudan Film Institute said that developing the film industry in Sudan “requires a great effort from everyone.”
He stressed that with concerted efforts, it is possible in the coming years to make this industry take its first steps in the right way.
The Sudan Film Institute had participated in supervising the “Creative Writing and Film Submission” workshop, which was held in Cairo, as the workshop followed the Sudan Collage project.
The Sudan Film Institute was responsible for selecting the trainers and developing the curriculum taught during the two workshops held in Cairo. In which he explained the problems faced by the Sudanese filmmaker. The institute explained that the filmmakers in Sudan suffer, especially with “regional” grant funds, from the filmmakers’ lack of experience in creating the film file, which undermines the durability and clarity of the file.
He pointed out that the steps of making a film are a long and arduous process that requires patience, and the film maker’s lack of awareness of the progress of this industry keeps him away from competition. These points formed the first building block that led to the realization of the importance of this workshop at this time, in addition to the fact that writing a film is a continuous process that never ends. Sometimes it starts from a simple idea that develops over time. “It is important for the filmmaker to understand the steps of this process (film writing). Screenwriting is just a ‘technique’ that can be learned simply, but this ‘technique’ requires a lot of knowledge and awareness of the steps of film making.” He added.
This process of “developing the film industry in Sudan” requires a great effort from everyone, but with this cooperation, we can make this industry take its first steps in the right way in the coming years.
