Bayer Leverkusen hopes to return to winning ways after their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga was ended by Leipzig in the last match before the two-week international break.
According to the German News Agency, Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso said in a new press conference on Friday: “Playing a match after a loss is normal.”
The Spanish coach added, before his team’s match against Hoffenheim tomorrow, Saturday, in the third stage of the league: “It’s not new. We had enough time for analysis, and we want to perform better and more completely.”
Alonso said: “Away games against Hoffenheim are never easy, and we need to play well to get a positive result.”
Alonso expressed “regret for not having much time with his players after they returned from international matches” but is happy that “the players came back in good shape and are ready.”
Bayer Leverkusen will reunite with Czech player Adam Hložek, who left Leverkusen to join Hoffenheim. Alonso said: “We are happy to see him again so soon. Of course, we know him well, he’s a fighter and has good shots. At Hoffenheim, he’s now in a good position and will get plenty of playing time.”
