After Two Months Away… Messi Returns to the Field

Sudan Events – Agencies
Argentinian star Lionel Messi, player for Inter Miami, returns to the field on Saturday after more than two months out due to an ankle injury, as announced by his coach Gerardo Martino on Friday.
Martino said before today’s training session: “Yes, he’s fine. He trained on Thursday and is in the match plans. After the training, we will strategize for him, but he is available.”
Inter Miami, the leader of the Eastern Conference and the overall standings, hosts Philadelphia Union (ranked 11th) on Saturday.
Messi injured his right ankle during the Copa America final on July 14th when he helped Argentina win 1-0 against Colombia.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner missed eight MLS matches and was also absent from Argentina’s World Cup 2026 qualifying matches earlier this month.
Martino added: “Getting back the best player in the world, who was already in good form, makes us all happy.”
