East Al-Jazeera Massacres: Horrific Catastrophes
Sudan Events – Report
The villages and areas of East Al-Jazeera and Al-Batana are undergoing retaliatory campaigns by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) following the defection of their leaders, targeting civilians on tribal and regional bases, amounting to genocide and ethnic cleansing.
Violation of the Law:
The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, stated that violations of international humanitarian law and crimes against humanity will not go unpunished, making it impossible to tolerate this terrorist militia. He added in a tweet on platform (X), “The more the terrorist militia of the Daqlo family indulges in the bloodshed of innocent citizens, the more the determination of the Sudanese people to resist them increases.”
Wave of Violence:
At least 50 people were killed and 200 others injured on Friday in a town in the Kamilin locality, marking the latest wave of violence by the RSF in the Al-Jazeera state.
Beginning last Sunday, the RSF led retaliatory campaigns against the residents of East Al-Jazeera following the defection of their commander in the state, Abu Aqila Kikil, who joined the Sudanese army, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries, alongside the displacement of thousands, amid reports of forced displacement, rape, looting, and pillaging.
A statement issued by the Al-Jazeera Conference noted that an RSF force stormed the Al-Sirah village in the Kamilin locality early Friday, setting up weapons and artillery in high buildings and began firing at unarmed civilians.
The statement highlighted that residents in the area reported that around 50 people had been killed, with the number of injured now exceeding 200, amid a complete lack of healthcare.
Social media has seen calls for human rights organizations and groups to urgently intervene to stop the killings and violations perpetrated by the RSF against the defenseless citizens of Al-Sirah, and to provide medical supplies to save the injured.
Elements of the RSF broadcast videos showing some soldiers firing at unarmed civilians with heavy weapons, declaring their control over Al-Sirah village.
Looting and Killing:
Additionally, a statement from the Central Call Platform reported that the RSF continued to storm dozens of villages in East Al-Jazeera, committing what it described as terrorist crimes, including murder, rape, looting, vandalism, and the abduction of unarmed civilians, indicating that the crimes committed by the RSF necessitate classifying it as a terrorist group.
In a second statement, the conference issued an urgent appeal for necessary support for those forced to leave their homes, traveling long distances on foot in harsh conditions, after having suffered various forms of torture and maltreatment by the RSF, who stripped them of their money and all their belongings.
It also called upon everyone to provide safe shelter centers for the displaced and to supply them with urgent food and medical support, demanding the Ministry of Health in Al-Jazeera state to dispatch mobile clinics and pharmacies along the displacement route to provide necessary healthcare for patients and the injured, urging the people of Al-Faw city, neighboring villages, and the city of New Halfa, along with emergency committees, to come out and welcome the displaced.
Ethnic Cleansing:
In contrast, villages and towns in East Al-Jazeera and Al-Batana have faced retaliatory campaigns from the Janjaweed militia following the defection of their leaders, targeting civilians on tribal and regional bases, amounting to genocide and ethnic cleansing.
The Foreign Ministry’s statement noted, “The number of victims of these criminal campaigns is estimated in the hundreds among the dead and injured, in addition to the displacement of several thousand from their villages.”
The statement urged the Sudanese government and the international community to condemn these campaigns immediately and strongly, and to take measures to hold the perpetrators and the leaders and sponsors of the terrorist militia accountable, and to stop the flow of weapons and mercenaries to them.
The statement continued, “There is no doubt that the silence and indifference of the international community towards these crimes encourages the militia and its regional sponsor to persist in committing massacres and genocide without fear of punishment.”
