The Expatriates Bureau and Sudanese Customs Discuss Exemptions Granted to Sudanese Expatriates

A joint meeting between the Sudanese Expatriates Affairs Bureau and the Sudanese Customs Forces, held at the Customs Headquarters in Port Sudan, addressed outstanding issues regarding exemptions granted to Sudanese expatriates under the Bureau’s law and ministerial decisions related to imported expatriate vehicles under Decision No. 203.
Acting Secretary-General of the Expatriates Affairs Bureau, Abdel Rahman Sayed Ahmed Zain Al-Abidin, visited the Customs Forces Headquarters in Port Sudan accompanied by Malik Ali Faqiri, Acting Director-General of Financial and Administrative Affairs, and Mustafa Mahmoud Jabara, Director of Governmental Facilitation at the Bureau. They met with Acting Director-General of the Customs Forces, Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, alongside several customs officials, including Deputy Director-General Major General Yasser Sidiq.
Zain Al-Abidin shared the Bureau’s vision for developing the package of exemptions for Sudanese expatriates. He noted that a study was prepared to make these regulations more flexible and considerate of expatriates’ diverse circumstances in various countries. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of reconstituting the joint committee, highlighting its vital role in addressing challenges and making decisions on expatriate exemptions. Zain Al-Abidin congratulated Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim on his appointment as Director-General of Customs, wishing him success.
Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim valued the partnership between Customs and the Expatriates Bureau. He acknowledged the recent challenges arising from the ongoing conflict and other unresolved issues, stressing the need to find solutions within the framework of this partnership. Ibrahim expressed his department’s readiness to overcome any obstacles through its unit within the Expatriates Bureau.
