Gomez Extends Contract as Technical Director for Red Bull

Mario Gomez, the former German striker, has extended his contract as the Technical Director of the Football Division at Red Bull until 2028, according to sources reported by the German news agency on Tuesday.
Gomez will continue working from Munich, Germany, while starting in January 2024 alongside fellow German Jürgen Klopp, who will take on the role of Global Head of Football for the energy drinks company.
The 39-year-old Gomez, who played in the Bundesliga for Stuttgart, Bayern Munich, and Wolfsburg, has held the technical director position since 2022.
Klopp and Gomez will travel regularly between Red Bull-owned clubs, including RB Leipzig in Germany, New York Red Bulls in the USA, Bragantino in Brazil, and Urawa Ardija in Japan. Their expertise will also extend to Leeds United in England and Paris FC in France, where Red Bull holds minority stakes.
Additionally, efforts to strengthen ties with Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, one of the company’s flagship teams, are underway. Klopp is expected to be officially presented in a press conference at the group’s headquarters in Austria on January 7.
