Injury Sidelines Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace for Weeks
Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is expected to be out for up to four weeks after suffering a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury.
According to “The Athletic,” Palace coach Oliver Glasner had hoped for Wharton’s return after the 3-1 win over Brighton on December 15. However, the player now faces a longer recovery period following surgery to address the thigh issue.
While Glasner did not specify an exact timeline for the 20-year-old’s recovery, he stated during a press conference ahead of the Boxing Day clash against Bournemouth: “It’s closer to four weeks than two,” likely ruling him out of most January fixtures, including the FA Cup third-round tie against Stockport County.
Eberechi Eze is set to return after missing Saturday’s 5-1 defeat to Arsenal due to foot swelling, provided he avoids any setbacks during training.
Glasner added: “We’ll wait and see, but it looks positive.”
Right-back Daniel Muñoz returns from suspension, while center-back Trevoh Chalobah is available again after being rested during the Arsenal match. No new injury concerns have arisen for Palace, and everyone who was fit for the Arsenal game remains available.
