Federal Ministry of Finance to Provide $4 million

Head of the Logistics Health Committee, Dr. Khalil Mohamed Ibrahim, confirmed that Sudan has demonstrated success in the impact of insecticide resistance and effectiveness in combating disease vectors, and determining the effects of different strategies for vector control interventions based on insecticides in developing and managing insecticide resistance. This can be seen such as residual spraying in housing and combining that with long-lasting insecticide-treated nets.

This came during the signing of contracts to purchase pesticides to combat the vector today (Thursday) in his office in Port Sudan Quarantine.

Dr. Khalil explained that autumn aids are pesticides that are purchased annually through government funding from the Federal Ministry of Finance, indicating that it was usually done early and due to the circumstances the country is going through, it was a little delayed, pointing out that there was a remaining stock from the previous year that contributed at the beginning of the campaigns reducing the severity of the spread of diseases.

Dr. Khalil also revealed the amount allocated to purchase pesticides to combat the vector, about $4 million, funded by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning during the autumn period and beyond, confirming that tenders will be offered to companies through a joint committee from the Ministry of Health, Finance, Legal Department and Internal Audit, explaining that 3 contracts have been approved through different companies to provide pesticides, indicating that the contracts have been signed and some pesticides have been received with the receipt being completed within a month, stressing the importance of regularity of disease vector control campaigns in all different states of Sudan.
