Plan for the Rehabilitation of Omdurman Popular Market

The Executive Director of Omdurman Locality, Sayed Al-Din Mukhtar, revealed that the locality has developed a plan to rehabilitate, develop, and organize the Omdurman Popular Market, along with removing encroachments. He stated that the rehabilitation plan began with the opening of administrative offices for the market and industries, continued with the maintenance of the police station in the market (which started working with support from traders), a cleanliness and environmental sanitation campaign, and reviewing electricity and water lines.

He called for unifying efforts among all relevant bodies related to the market in order to complete the requirements for reopening the market in the coming phase.

This came during his meeting (on Tuesday) with the Higher Committee for Community and Popular Support for the Police in Khartoum State and representatives of the commercial sectors of the Omdurman Popular Market.

For his part, Dr. Bahaa Al-Din Hassan Ali, head of the Higher Committee for Support and representatives of the commercial sectors in the market, confirmed the integration of roles and the unification of efforts between traders, businessmen, companies, and philanthropists to reopen the market as soon as possible. They also supported the locality’s efforts in cleanliness, security, and the restoration of services, urging traders to inspect their shops in coordination with the local authorities.
