James also appeared in his 1523rd career game, surpassing Dirk Nowitzki, and moved into fourth place in NBA history.
Anthony Davis returned after missing one game, scoring 18 points and grabbing 19 rebounds for the Lakers.
Austin Reaves scored 20 points, helping the Lakers secure their seventh win in nine games since December 15.
Trae Young scored 33 points and provided nine assists for the Hawks, who lost their second consecutive game.
